Current Vacancies - Environmental Project Engineer
An Environmental Project Engineer is required to work alongside the current Environmental Project Manager(s) and Certification Manager(s) to process applications for MCERTS certification of environmental monitoring products. Training will be given, although experience of environmental monitoring and/or the operation of product certification schemes will be highly advantageous.
The Environmental Project Engineer will be expected to develop a working knowledge of environmental monitoring methods and their applications. There will be frequent contact with manufacturers and the Environment Agency including new and existing customers and test laboratories in the UK and overseas.
The position is based in Chester. The candidate should have a flexible approach to working and will be required to spend time at the office in Crayford, Kent.
Responsibilities and Duties
In addition to the responsibilities and duties listed below the Environmental Project Engineer may be required to perform other duties assigned by the Environmental Project Manager(s) or Certification Manager(s) from time to time. There will be a requirement to work at other Group premises or at a customer’s premises in the UK or overseas.
Primary responsibilities and duties include:
- Working as part of the Sira Environmental team to deliver excellent service to all customers
- Day-to-day control and operation of defined certification and inspection activities as defined in the SCS Quality Manual
- Handling applications, enquiries and generating quotations/proposals
- Assessment of technical data to demonstrate product performance in accordance with the appropriate MCERTS performance standard
- Project management of certification processes for MCERTS product certification
- Liaison with customers, technical experts, test laboratories and the Environment Agency
- Promotion and marketing of MCERTS certification schemes
- Assisting in maintaining UKAS accreditation
- Continual improvement of certification processes
- Maintaining an up-to-date list of MCERTS certified products
- Ensuring that projects are completed within budget and in accordance with procedures
Qualifications/skills and experience
Suitable candidates shall meet the following criteria:
- A degree or equivalent qualification in a technical subject
- A good understanding of environmental monitoring
- The ability to work as an individual and as part of a team
- Good communication, administration and interpersonal skills, together with a high level of computer literacy (Word, Excel etc.)
The following criteria are also desirable:
- Experience in the operation of product certification schemes
Location
The main certification office is based in Eccleston, Chester (main place of work). There is also an additional office in Crayford, Kent.
Remuneration Package
A competitive salary package is offered which includes private medical insurance, company pension scheme, and initially 23 days’ holiday.
