Q. My site has an EPR (PPC) permit - What do I need to do to get the site MCERTS compliant?
A. Compliance is achieved by satisfactory completion of a Site Inspection and a Management System audit.
Q. How do I arrange the inspection and audit?
A. You can contact Sira or an MCERTS Service Provider who will be able to give you details of costs and timescales.
Q. Can the same person do the site inspection and audit on one day?
A. No, an MCERTS inspector will look at the flow monitoring arrangements on site to verify the suitability of the flowmeter and whether it has been installed, set-up and is operating correctly. Following the inspection and auditor is appointed to look at the Quality Management System in operation at the site.
Q. My site has ISO 9000/ISO 14001 accreditation – why do I need a separate MCERTS Audit?
A. The audit is carried out with specific reference to flow measurement and maintaining an EMS and/or a QMS will not adequately demonstrate compliance with MCERTS requirements.
Q. How often do I have to have these inspections and audits carried out?
A. To maintain a Site Conformity Certification, site inspections will need to be carried out every five years. The management system will be subject to periodical surveillance. The first surveillance visit will be conducted approximately 12 months after the initial assessment. Thereafter, the frequency of surveillance visits will be agreed with the Operator, based on the audit findings.
Q. My site has special safety arrangements, does this cause an issue?
A. All MCERTS Inspectors are experienced in working on sites having hazardous areas. They carry full PPE with them and are trained in confined space working, use of breathing apparatus, etc.
